I am new to Medicare – what steps do I take to make sure I am ready for Medicare insurance? How do I know what plan to select?

Important Information

If you are turning 65, your special enrollment period is three months prior to your 65th birthday and three months following your 65th birthday. In other words, you have a total of seven months to select a Medicare insurance plan. Before you can enroll, you will need your red, white and blue Medicare identification card showing you have both Parts A and B. (See Medicare & Turning 65.) Things to Do

1. Request a packet of available insurance plans.
2. Prepare a list of your prescription drugs (see Prescription Drug & Physician Questionnaire). This is an important step when making a plan selection as prescription drug coverage will vary from plan to plan. If you choose to send this form to us, we will run a comparison report for you to consider as you review the plans.
3. For those new to Medicare, we highly recommend you talk with one of our Medicare Insurance Specialists. We know you will have lots of questions and a one-on-one conversation with an expert in the field will get you off to the right start.
