Myth Vs. Fact: Medicare covers expenses in foreign countries

Myth! Medicare in most cases does not cover health care when an individual is travelling outside of the United States or U.S territories. It is also important to note that Medicare Part D drug plans do not cover prescription drugs purchased outside the United States.

If you are on a Medicare Supplement or Medicare Advantage plan, there might be specific coverage and rules that apply depending on your plan.

Travel insurance is also available in the form of trip cancellation and emergency medical coverage. If you have specific questions regarding your plan or travel insurance, reach out to VibrantUSA at 866-733-5111.
