By now I am sure you have heard the news, the federal government released a website to order FREE at-home COVID-19 tests! The site is now up and running and everyone can now order a pack of 4 rapid antigen tests.
Orders can be placed using this link: https://special.usps.com/testkits
The tests are completely free. Orders will usually ship in 7-12 days. You will be asked to provide your name, address, and email if you would like shipping updates. More information on the program can be found at www.COVIDtests.gov.
Questions regarding the health insurance reimbursement?
The www.COVIDtests.gov website does provide links about the health insurance reimbursement. It outlines that private health insurance companies will pay you back for up to 8 at-home tests per month for each person on the plan. This program currently does not include original Medicare to cover cost for at-home tests. If you are on a Medicare Advantage plan, your plan may offer coverage and payment for at-home COVID-19 tests. Those on Medicare Advantage plans should check with their plan for further information.
Important note: If your health insurance plan has a network of preferred stores, pharmacies, or online retailers, it is best to utilize the network to ensure you receive the full reimbursement amount. If you choose an out-of-network supplier, the plan is only required to reimburse up to a certain amount of the total cost of the test. Be sure to hold on to all receipts for reimbursement.
