Looking for a fun family-friendly event while also supporting your community? Well look no further! VibrantUSA is partnering with Meals on Wheels for the second annual Meals on Wheels Rocks the Farm: Berries, Beats & BBQ on Saturday, July 28, from 4 – 7 p.m. at Bellingham Country Gardens.  All proceeds from the event will support Meals on Wheels and More, a program of the Whatcom Council on Aging, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Meals on Wheels and More supports the health and independence of older adults in Whatcom and San Juan Counties by delivering nutritious meals to home bound adults age 60 and over, serving senior meals at local community centers and senior housing, and providing nutrition education and nutrition case management.

The local Meals on Wheels director Julie Meyers said:

Meals on Wheels and More receives approximately 1/3 of program funding through federal grants. Other sources of funding include local governments, client donations, other grants, fundraising, private and corporate donations.  Fundraisers like Meals on Wheels Rocks the Farm not only raise money to provide nutritious meals for local seniors, but they help raise awareness about senior hunger and our services in the greater community.

Bring the whole family and come enjoy live music by “The Dagwoods”, a local Bellingham band playing crowd-pleasing classic rock covers.  Your ticket includes a plate off the BBQ and strawberry shortcake with fresh, local berries.  Beer and wine will be available for purchase.  Be sure to bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating in the field and don’t forget to bring the kids as we have face painting and designated activities for them as well!  There will also be raffle tickets sold at the event with a wide range of items to win.

Tickets can be purchased online for $25 at brownpapertickets.com or at the door for $30. Kids 12 and under are free!

Last year with the help of sponsors like Dewey Griffin Subaru, Boundary Bay Brewery, and all of the wonderful attendees, over $10,000 was raised and donated to the Meals on Wheels and More, a program of Whatcom Council on Aging.

We look forward to seeing you there!
