VibrantUSA had the privilege of joining other sponsors Audio Video Excellence, Boundary Bay Brewery, and Dewey Griffin Subaru, to help Whatcom County Meals on Wheels & More host Rock the Farm: Berries, Beats & BBQ last month. On a perfect summer afternoon, over 200 attendees came to Bellingham Country Gardens to support a great cause.
Guests enjoyed delicious food from the grill, fresh berry shortcake, and beverages from the beer garden while listening to party band The Dagwoods. Kids had a blast with yard games and face painting. It was truly a fantastic event in the gardens!
Russell Solberg, VibrantUSA President & Chief Operating Officer said:
I am so proud of the entire team at VibrantUSA for their commitment on giving back to our community and putting so much effort into this event. It was an amazing experience and we look forward to continuing to support Meals on Wheels in the months and years ahead.
Due to the generous donations by local businesses, over 20 raffle prizes were offered, with $937 raised in raffle ticket sales alone. Proceeds from the event totaled over $10,000! All proceeds from the event went to Meals on Wheels and More, a program of Whatcom Council on Aging.
Julie Meyers, Meals on Wheels director took the lead on planning the event, and expressed her gratitude that it went so well:
It was such a success! Thanks to the VibrantUSA crew!
Many thanks to all sponsors, The Dagwoods, as well as all other donating businesses and the generous individuals who attended, as well as the Bellingham Senior Center, Meals on Wheels, and VibrantUSA employees for their hard work.
Last year Meals on Wheels and More delivered 81,000 nutritious meals to more than 500 home bound seniors, a 33% increase from 2014. Demand for Meals on Wheels by local home bound seniors continues to increase while federal funding has remained flat for several years.
