Medicare’s open enrollment season always brings a few surprises and challenges. The 2015 OEP is no different, with a couple changes impacting residents of Washington State. This is especially true for people who live in Skagit, Island, Whatcom, and San Juan counties where Group Health has made dramatic changes to its plans.
Many of the 13,000 Group Health plan members who live in one of the above counties have been told that their plan will not be offered in 2015. That is the bad news but there is some good news there as well:
- Medicare’s Annual Election Period (October 15 to December 7) is intended to provide everyone with an opportunity to compare their current plan to all of the plans that will be available in the coming year. Because needs may change as well as the plans themselves, VibrantUSA strongly recommends that everyone takes advantage of the Annual Election Period each year to verify that their current plan is meeting their individual needs.
- Group Health is not leaving the market in the counties listed above. Instead, they have chosen to eliminate certain plans for 2015. While Group Health is offering new plan options, members affected by one of the plans leaving the market should verify if one of those new plans will continue to meet their needs.
- For those Group Health members affected by this change, whether you wish to continue with one of Group Health’s new plans or evaluate all of your options, VibrantUSA can help. The enrollment process into a new plan is easy. Just give us a call or send an email to customer.service@vibrantusa.com and we will make sure you get the help you deserve.
