The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced today increases in the Part B Medicare Premium and Annual Deductible for the 2013 Calendar Year.

Part B, the medical portion of Medicare, increases from $99.90 to $104.90 for most beneficiaries and higher for others depending on income. The Part B annual deductible will increase from $140 to $147.

There are also increases to the Part A Medicare program (hospital coverage). For the first 60 day stay, the deductible has increased $28 per day; days 61 through 90 show an increase of $7 per day; and days 91 through 150 will raise $14 a day. The payment for Skilled Nursing Facility Care increases $3.50 a day for days 21 through 100.

These changes were announced following a modest increase for Social Security recipients of 1.7 percent based on the Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA).
